A proposal made high in the skies above the UK city of Bath has been turned into a comic strip for a national hotel chain advertising campaign.<\/p>\n
When flight director Clive Bailey proposed to his girlfriend Jo in a hot air balloon above Bath he was so overwhelmed by her answer that she had to land the balloon herself.<\/p>\n
This story captured the interest of bosses at Premier Inn, who turned it into a comic for their new campaign.\u00a0Now people all over the world will be able to read about the proposal, which happened in 1994.<\/p>\n
The couple, who married in 1995, live in Bristol, and are both well-known balloon pilots.\u00a0Mrs Bailey said:<\/p>\n
\u201cSomeone from Premier Inn rang us and said that they had heard that we had some interesting stories, and could we tell them more.\u00a0I told them a few, and this is the one they used.”<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a really lovely way to get engaged, and it is nice that people will be able to read about it.”<\/p>\n
\u201cI really love the comic strip, and lots of our friends have seen it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The couple fly balloons from Royal Victoria Park on a regular basis.<\/p>\n
Mrs Bailey said that the proposal had come as a surprise.\u00a0She said: \u201cI had no idea that he was going to propose. I\u00a0think he got even more flustered as just as he popped the question we were getting nearer to an area that you are not supposed to fly over.\u00a0So after I said yes I ended up flying the balloon down while he navigated.\u201d<\/p>\n
The couple even left their wedding reception in a hot air balloon.<\/p>\n
The history of storytelling dates back years, and Premier Inn wanted to highlight some of the stories from British people.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson said: We took to the street to find people with tales of great adventure.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve loved hearing all their stories and hope they will inspire you to go out into the Great British countryside and embark upon a few adventures of your own.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Other stories include the Houdini horse from Woking, surfing with dolphins in Aberdeen, and Mark from Stirling woken at 4am by police to fix a bike.<\/p>\n
