Balloon with 6 passengers goes down in Noblesville
We are getting various reports, confirmed by the local Fire Department, that a hot air balloon crashed after power line contact in in Noblesville, Indianna, USA, on Saturday night.
The crash happened near 16th and Pleasant streets just before 8:30 p.m., according to the Noblesville Fire Department. A small fire was reported at the scene which was quickly extinguished.
The pilot and six passengers were in the balloon’s basket at the time of the crash, but only two minor injuries were reported and both refused treatment.
The balloon is owned by Midwest Balloon Rides of Fishers and launched from from Harbour Shores Church located at 8011 E. 216th Street in Noblesville.
Initial investigation suggests the balloon was in the process of descending when it collided with power lines in the area. After the collision, the balloon subsequently fell to the ground in an open field.
A YouTube video shows the balloon hitting power lines, which police confirm left some areas without power for about an hour.
The FAA has taken over the investigation.
