Balloons, bikes and golf this weekend in Texas
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, Plainview, Texas, USA is definitely the place to be as local organizations are planning a morning filled with balloons, golf and cycling this coming Saturday.
“We wanted bring some fun to Plainview this weekend,” said Plainview Chamber of Commerce director Linda Morris.
The Chamber will be rolling out the fun bright and early, as they have partnered with the Southwest Region Ballooning Club to bring back the hot air balloon lift off which will run in conjunction with the annual Fool’s Cup activities.
Unable to host the event in the previous two years because of weather and scheduling issues, the balloons are scheduled to return to Plainview this Saturday as weather forecasts are predicting clear skies for lift off.
The community and hot air balloon lovers will be able get a hands-on lesson in ballooning as they will be able to help teams set up and launch at sunrise.
Close to 10 balloons will be at Regional Park for this year’s event.
Those who volunteer help for the lift off will also be treated to a Lion’s Club breakfast, sponsored by the Plainview CVB.
But if you just want to watch balloons fly off to the horizon, liftoff will commence right at sunrise.
Following liftoff, Plainview’s 3rd Annual Tour De Freedom will be rolling out, as cyclists, experienced or novice, will hop on their bikes and pedal down one of three scenic routes.
Featuring a 24, 34 and a 60-mile route, the Tour De Freedom will offer something for everyone, including rest stops sponsored by Cotton Patch restaurant.
