Go Over the Rainbow for Charity with Wicked’s Hot Air Balloon
There are only two ways to get to Oz: tornado or hot air balloon. Now fans of the Broadway musical Wicked can try their luck getting over the rainbow in the new Wicked Hot Air Balloon. The specialty balloon, which benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, will travel to upcoming balloon festivals around the United States. Fans can defy gravity by making a $250 donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS directly through Wicked.
The Wicked Hot Air Balloon will take flight at the New Jersey Festival of Ballooning in Readington, NJ (July 26-28), the National Balloon Classic in Indianola, IA (Aug. 2-4), the Great Midwest Balloon Fest in Overland Park, KS (Aug. 9-11), the Colorado Balloon Classic in Colorado Springs, CO (Aug. 31-Sept. 2), the Adirondack Balloon Festival in Glen Falls, NY (Sept. 19-22) and the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM (Oct. 5-13). Wicked fans in the tri-state area can also access the balloon at its home base in Elverson, PA upon request.
Flights generally occur at sunrise or just before sunset and last one hour depending on the weather. The balloon can accommodate up to four passengers. Children are welcome, but must be at least six-years-old to ride.
