Hot Air Balloon Cinches VBS Lesson

Leesburg United Methodist Church completed its Vacation Bible School Thursday night with a high-flying event to top off the theme of the week-long VBS, “Sky: Everything is possible with God.”

VBS was held July 28 to Aug. 1 and involved between 30 and 35 children each night. The 2013 theme was “Sky: Everything is possible with God,” and to wrap up the week and give the kids another reason to celebrate, David Baker was invited to the church where he set up and inflated his very own hot air balloon.

Although the balloon did not have lift-off, it stayed inflated in the church parking lot so the kids could take up close and personal looks at the unique flying vessel.

Leesburg UMC VBS was organized by Vicki Martin and was assisted by many volunteers who made it a great success. This year, each child who attended VBS received a backpack full of school supplies from Leesburg UMC.

Leesburg United Methodist Church meets at Patona Bay at 8:30 a.m. Sundays, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Services are held at the church, located at 111 W. Prairie St., Leesburg, on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. after Labor Day.
