Hot air balloon landing in Bentleigh park
When Chris Renwick was called into his front yard by his wife he didn’t expect to see a hot-air balloon descending into the park near his house.
The balloon and its “nine or ten” passengers touched down softly in Hodgson Reserve, Bentleigh, last Thursday, much to the wonder of spectators, Mr Renwick said.
“All you could see was a balloon virtually covered by the trees from my house,” Mr Renwick said.
The pilot had decided to put the balloon down in Hodgson Reserve after deciding there wasn’t enough wind to carry him to Moorabbin Airport, Mr Renwick said.
“He said he wanted to land in a football oval, but he said he couldn’t get to it,” Mr Renwick said.
“I tell you what, though, he did a good job, because he dropped it in with really no room to spare.”
