Mike Pero launches sky-high advert
Those who thought they saw a house flying over Christchurch, New Zealand today were not mistaken.
Mike Pero, of Mike Pero Real Estate, was in the house-shaped hot air balloon with a pilot this morning. Pero said the company had owned the balloon for a long time after a shareholder decided to buy it, but it was the first time they had brought it to Christchurch.
”It’s probably the first house to be flying over the city in the history of Christchurch.”
The unusual balloon had already flown across Auckland and Sydney harbours, and had been to Wellington. Today was Pero’s first time in a hot air balloon, having been ”one of those bucket list items”, he said.
”The reason we got it up today was that there was virtually no wind on the ground. It’s very weather dependent.”
The balloon was launched from an Avondale Park about 9am, flying over the CBD before landing in a field near Prebbleton less than an hour later.
Pero said he was thrilled to see people on the city’s streets pointing up at the strange sight and waving.
”I think it’s something Cantabrians haven’t seen. It’s such a buzz to be able to make peoples’ day.”
The house-shaped balloon was made in England and was about seven-storeys high when fully inflated.
”It has enough space to house over 35 semi-trailers,” Pero said.
