RE/MAX Balloon School Visit Program Continues
More than 1,700 students at four Chicago elementary schools will soon be gaining new insights into science and the history of human flight from the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon and its crew. At each school the balloon crew will present an interactive educational program developed and sponsored by the RE/MAX real estate network in northern Illinois.
On June 5, the balloon will visit Eliza Chappell Elementary School, 2135 W. Foster Ave., at 9:15 a.m. and Pilsen Community Academy, 1420 W. 17th St., at 1 p.m. On June 6, it will be at Albert Sabin Elementary Magnet School, 2216 W. Hirsch St., at 9:20 a.m. and on June 11, the balloon will call at Columbia Explorers Academy, 4520 S. Kedzie Ave., where the program begins at 9 a.m.
The program will be presented in the gymnasium at each school. Students will see the balloon and learn about various aspects of ballooning, including its history and the scientific principles involved. The 75-foot-tall balloon envelope will be partially inflated with cold air so that students can walk inside it as part of the educational experience.
Students also will go outside for a demonstration of the balloon basket and its propane burners, which heat air to lift the balloon. At three of the schools, there will be multiple presentations so that all students can be accommodated.
Also on hand to enhance the occasion will be a “cold air” version of the RE/MAX Soaring Home Balloon, a house-like inflatable that has become a crowd favorite since being introduced a few years ago.
First created 36 years ago, the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon has become an internationally recognized corporate symbol, especially in combination with the classic RE/MAX “Above the Crowd!”® slogan. The balloon appears frequently at festivals, parades and charity events and in the skies of northern Illinois.
This year the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon will be involved in numerous educational programs presented by its crew at schools throughout northern Illinois.
