Hot Air

Scottish Cup balloon crosses the Firth of Forth

Scottish Cup fever in the east of Scotland went sky high this morning thanks to a giant hot-air balloon version of the famous old trophy.

Just days after soccer teams Dundee United and St Johnstone booked their places in this year’s final sponsors William Hill gave their 125ft balloon a practice run in the clear blue skies above the Firth of Forth.

The balloon, the largest of its type in the UK, is so big it could fit over 120,000 footballs inside.

And for those who are celebrating victory on May 17 just imagine filling this beauty with champagne – apparently you can get 4,530,695 bottles of bubbly in it.

Wouldn’t fancy picking up that tab mind you.
